Pick Ax has an optional password managment system that allows you to safely and easily store PAX image passwords in secure password files. This allows Pick Ax to automatically find passwords for PAX images that you have already opened. Of course, the password manager is itself password protected, to protect against prying eyes.

To use the password manager, you must first "log in". Choose Password Manager / Enable to enable a password manager. Enter a user name and password. Each username and password combination will use a new password manager database. You can create as many password managers as you want, in this way.

When you enable a password manager, it will store and retrieve PAX image passwords for you automatically. When you open a PAX file, you will be prompted for the file's password. If you enter the password correctly, the file will be opened and the file's password will be stored in the active password manager. Likewise, if you save a PAX file, the password that you give for the new PAX file will be stored in the password manager. When you go to open these files again, the password manager will recognize that you are opening a file that you have opened before and will look-up and use the saved password.

What makes a password manager secure is that fact that you can't use it unless you know the username/password combination that was used when the password manager was enabled for the first time.
